CHAIRMAN UPBEAT AND EXCITED AS HE SETTLES IN TO NEW ROLE

Kelvin Thomas on his first few weeks at Sixfields

Chairman Kelvin Thomas has been talking about his first few weeks at the football club and future plans.

“It’s been a very busy period and we’ve just been trying to find out as much as we can about all areas of the club and figuring out what our priorities are,” he said.

“We have looked at three areas of the club that are important to us and those are the East stand, recruitment and a training ground, not particularly in that order.

“We are starting to put some plans in place behind the scenes in all of those areas and the reality is and I’ve learnt that when you are on top you have to improve.

“The training ground discussions are at an early stage, it’s not something we need today but it something we would like to have maybe for next season.

“With the East stand we had a good meeting with Buckingham’s this week and we are continuing conversations with them and the council.

“We are continuing our research and it’s all about trying to get the best stand that we can.

“I don’t think it’s a case of starting again, that would be pretty cost prohibitive but I think there are improvements to be made.

“On the pitch we’ve got ourselves into a great position, and a fantastic game to look forward to on Saturday, but now is the time we need to push on and work even harder. I know that Chris Wilder understands that and I think the players and the staff do to.

“Chris and the players have worked extremely hard to get us into this position and we’ve got some big games coming up.

“It’s nice being top after 21 games but the aim is to be top or certainly in the top three after 46 games.”
