ALAN KNILL - 'WE ARE DESPERATE TO PROGRESS'

3 December 2015

The Cobblers assistant manager on Northampton Town v Northwich Victoria

Cobblers assistant manager Alan Knill says that Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup second round tie against Northwich Victoria is a game the Cobblers are desperate to win.

“This is such a big game for us,” he said.

“We’ve seen Northwich play three times now and we know that this is going to be a really tough game. They’ve got some players who can cause us problems and we have to be at our best.

“Northwich come here full of confidence, they will be organised and they will be difficult to break down.

“They will come here with no expectation and they can play with a freedom.

“Chris and I both believe that in Jim Gannon they have a manager who should be managing in the Football League and we know that they will come with a game plan.

“We will be treating this like any other game, we want to progress as far as we can because you know that down the line there is a big pay day somewhere.

“Northwich are a bit of an unknown and we are not underestimating who we are playing in any way.

“On the day it’s all about us and how we play. If we play to our maximum we think we will win but if we don’t, even by a tiny margin, then we give Northwich a real chance.

“Everyone around us is expecting us to win and the challenge for us is to make sure that we do.”

A reminder that reduced price tickets apply for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Northwich Victoria, why not take advantage and come and cheer on the Cobblers?!
