Following the fire at the Sixfields Tavern recently, Northampton Town in partnership with Centerplate are pleased to be able to offer supporters additional facilities to purchase food and drink at the Portsmouth game on Saturday.
A mobile bar will be set up behind the North Stand, serving a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, both bottled and draught, as well as a hog roast option.
“We were all very sorry to see the fire that badly damaged the Sixfields Tavern,” said Northampton Town Chief Executive James Whiting.
“We are aware that a lot of our supporters used to enjoy their pre-match drink there, and they will miss that facility.
"We are bringing in a mobile bar for the Portsmouth game behind the North Stand on a trial basis. The overall matchday experience is extremely important to us and we will see what the demand is for this service. If it proves popular, we will certainly bring the bar back for future games and potentially look to grow this facility , but we need a level of support for this service to make it financially viable.”
A capacity crowd is expected at Sixfields for the visit of Portsmouth on Saturday as the Cobblers, currently top of League 2, kick off their festive programme of matches against the 2008 FA Cup winners who sit fourth in the League 2 table. Tickets are still available, but are selling quickly for this top of the table clash, so supporters are urged to call 01604 683777 as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The ticket office is open from 10am to 5pm daily, 7pm on Thursday.
The new bar will open from 1pm, while Carr’s Bar will be open from noon as normal.
