The Cobblers boss on Newcastle United v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on the Capital One Cup second round tie at Newcastle United.

“I’ve got no complaints with the attitude of my team tonight and that’s something we’ve got to take forward,” he said.

“We got off to an awful start but we got ourselves up off the canvas and we were well in the game for a long time.

“We looked more like a team than we did on Saturday and we looked bright in certain areas. We did some good things tonight both collectively and as a team and we need to build on that.

“Newcastle paid us a lot of respect with the team they picked, their attitude was spot on and we just didn’t quite take advantage of one or two key moments.

“We’ve given a decent account of ourselves tonight but we’ve got to put this game to bed now and look to Accrington.”
