The Cobblers boss on Bristol Rovers v Northampton Town

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder is looking forward to starting the season at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

"The roller coaster starts again and we are ready for it," he said.

"I think we are stronger than 12 months ago. I am delighted with the additions we have made over the summer, I think we have got value for money and we have added quality.

"We ran out of steam last year but now we have options in attacking areas and that will help us. We also need to do better defensively and I am really pleased with the options we have there as well.

"I think this is a fantastic opening game to be involved in. Bristol Rovers are a huge club who should never have gone down but they did and to their credit they came straight back. I know that's not easy to do and they deserve huge credit for doing it and now they will want to kick on.

"It will be a good occasion. Their fans will be out in force to mark their return and it will be a tough game, but if we are at our best we feel we are a tough team to beat and I'm looking forward to it."
