CHRIS WILDER LOOKING FOR CAPITAL ONE CUP PROGRESS

11 August 2015

The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Blackpool

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder previews Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup first round tie against Blackpool at Sixfields, KO 7.45pm.

“Blackpool will be expected to win but we’re at home and we’ve got nothing to lose,” he said.

“Cup competitions can be a massive kick on financially and it can be good prestige for the club but from a football point of view we just want to win games, regardless of competition.

“We want to progress and we want to make a name for ourselves. Blackpool are a League One club with League One players and we want to show that we can go and battle it out against them.

“It was a great day for us on Saturday and one that we enjoyed but we move quickly on.

“We want to make it difficult for any team coming here and we will be looking to start quickly on Tuesday night.

“There are no days off if you want to achieve and I don’t want to see us taking a backward step.

“We are backing ourselves but we know that we will have to play well to get a result but we are confident that we can do that.”
