MIXED EMOTIONS FOR CHRIS WILDER

25 April 2015

The Cobblers boss on Burton Albion 3 Northampton Town 1

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Burton.

“We gifted Burton the lead and from then on they were quicker and stronger than us in the first half,” he said.

“We made a couple of changes in the second half which made us a lot better and we gave them a game but we’d given ourselves a mountain to climb.

“We got steamrollered in the first half and all three goals were poor goals from our point of view.

“We embarrassed ourselves in the first half with our performance which was completely unacceptable but we did show a reaction and we pushed Burton back in the second half.

“I thought Ivan Toney was outstanding today and there are things to look forward to for next season but we will need to show what we did in the second half today on a much more consistent basis if we are going to get out of this league.”
