CHRIS WILDER PRAISES DISPLAY BUT DISAPPOINTED BY LATE LEVELLER

The views of the Cobblers boss on Oxford United v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Oxford.

“The game was over but we gifted them an equaliser and in the last two games now late goals have hurt us,” he said.

“Whether that’s a little bit of mental or physical tiredness I’m not sure but that’s definitely something we need to look at and it’s been in my head for a little while now that we certainly need to have a much tougher pre-season next year.

“I thought we controlled possession tonight and created the better chances. Ivan and Diego up top were outstanding and of course it was great to have Marc Richards back at the end because there’s no doubt he has been a big miss for us.

“We played well in difficult conditions and we were the better team football wise but the strong sides see games out and that’s what we need to be next year.”
