The Cobblers boss on Stevenage v Northampton Town
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Stevenage.
“Unfortunately we’ve just not quite had enough about us to get the three points and I have to be honest realistically I think that’s it for us in terms of making the play-offs,” he said.
“We’ve been playing cup tie, win or bust football for quite a while now and we’ve done well to put ourselves in a position where we’ve been challenging for the play-offs but when we’ve not played well we’ve needed to grind out results. We had to gamble today, a point was no good so we had to risk losing to try and win.
“That’s been our Achilles heel this year, we were in the game for long periods today but it maybe epitomises our season that we’ve ended up being beaten.
“We’ve obviously fallen a bit short but we need to re-group and make sure that we start next season on the front foot.
“We are not on a great run points wise but we have to keep going right until the end of the season and we will get it right in the long run.”
