The Cobblers boss on Oxford United v Northampton Town
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder previews Tuesday night’s trip to Oxford United.
“We’ve got to accept the fact we’ve given ourselves too much to do but we have an obligation to ourselves, the league and our supporters to keep going right to the last minute of the last game,” he said.
“We’ve pushed it right to the end, it has been a pretty up and down season for us and perhaps ultimately we will be a little bit disappointed that we haven’t finished in the play-offs because you always want to achieve.
“We want to win and we want to drive this club forward and we will work hard through these last four games and through the summer to make sure that we hit the ground running at the start of next season.
“We are still re-building and we will be better next year. There are certain aspects we need to work on, our defensive record hasn’t been good enough this year and that was highlighted again in the game on Saturday.
“We want to finish the season on a high and gain momentum going into next season. I’m looking for the group to kick on and I’ll be looking at the players to see if they’ve got that drive from within and those that don’t won’t be playing here next season.”
