Cobblers boss Chris Wilder is hoping to marry the recent potent attacking play with improved defensive strength for this Saturday’s trip to Morecambe.

“We’re scoring goals and we want to keep that going but defensively we need to tighten up,” he said.

“We are the highest scorers in the league but defensively we haven’t been good enough and there is a lot of hard work to be done on the training ground this week.

“We attack as a team and defend as a team and last Saturday we certainly didn’t do the defensive side well enough.

“The spirit amongst the players is good and we’ve got to move on from Saturday pretty quickly.

“Morecambe have had an unbelievable start and Jim Bentley has done a fantastic job there on limited resources.

“It’s a good test for us, we are looking to get ourselves back on track and what we want to do is put a run together.”
