ZANDER DIAMOND UNDERGOES ANKLE SURGERY

23 October 2014

Defender expected back in month to six weeks

Zander Diamond will be missing for around a month after undergoing ankle surgery on Thursday.

Diamond is going under the knife to correct a bone problem on an injury that forced him off in the Hartlepool United game last month.

“Zander has gone in for an operation today and that is going to keep him out for a month minimum, possibly up to six weeks,” boss Chris Wilder has confirmed.

“Lee Collins we are assessing and seeking another opinion and Marc Richards is still going to be another three to four weeks.

“We are going to be the weakest we have been all season on Saturday but sometimes it’s when things go against you that you show your true qualities.

“We’ve got to work a bit harder and in every position we need to show better qualities and be more consistent.”
