OFFICIAL CHARITY PARTNER COLLECTING ON SATURDAY

9 October 2014

Spurgeons collecting at the Burton Albion game

Volunteers from children’s charity Spurgeons are out in force outside the ground on Saturday armed with buckets asking for generous donations towards its causes.

Rushden-based Spurgeons, which is one of the Cobblers’ official charities this season, works across the country delivering almost 100 different projects to support children, young people and their families.

The charity, which is almost 150 years old, has just started its delivery of 15 children’s centres in Northamptonshire, including eight in Northampton. As well as running children’s centres, it also supports young carers, teenage parents and families affected by the criminal justice system.

Claire Woodward, assistant director of marketing at Spurgeons, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the club’s official charities of the season. Although we’re a national charity, we’re very proud of our roots here in Northamptonshire.

“All of the money raised will go towards helping children and young people lead as fulfilling lives as possible, so please dig deep and give whatever money you can.”
