NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN ENDA STEVENS ON LOAN FROM ASTON VILLA

10 October 2014

Cobblers bring in Aston Villa defender

Northampton Town have signed 24 year old Aston Villa defender Enda Stevens on a month's emergency loan.

As a youngster, Stevens began his career with University College Dublin before moving to St Patrick's Athletic where he established himself as first choice left-back.

He made six appearances in the 2009-2010 UEFA Europa League as Pats advanced through two rounds to the play-off round.

Stevens signed for Shamrock Rovers in December 2009 and capped off his first League of Ireland season by winning his first title as Shamrock won the league title on the final day of the season.

He repeated this success in 2011 and also won the All Ireland Setanta Cup.

In 2011-2012, Stevens was part of Rovers' first ever UEFA Europa League clash and made 15 appearances in European competition over a two year period.

He capped off a memorable year by winning the PFAI Young Player of the Year.

He joined Villa in January 2012, and made his full Premier League debut against Manchester United, one of six Premier League starts he has to his name.

In the 2013/14 season he had loan spells at Notts County and Doncaster Rovers, and while with the latter he made 13 Championship appearances.

He is available to face Burton Albion at Sixfields on Saturday.
