CHRIS WILDER DELIGHTED WITH WIN AT PORTSMOUTH

Chris Wilder looks back on Portsmouth v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round win at Portsmouth.

“Based on our second half performance I felt we deserved to win the game, I’m delighted with the efforts from everybody and we’ve come through a very tough tie,” he said.

“To get a result here you have to work hard and compete, we’ve done that and for 20-25 minutes in the second half we played some excellent football and controlled the game.

“The players that came in all did well as did the players playing in different positions and in the end I think we just about did enough to edge a tight game.

“The only negative is the injury to Marc Richards and it looks like he could be out for four to six weeks.

“He’s done his hamstring and that is obviously really disappointing for the player and for ourselves.”
