Ryan Cresswell will miss the visit of Stevenage after jarring his knee in Tuesday night’s FA Cup first round replay at Rochdale.
“Ryan has been immense for us and losing another senior player is a big blow,” said boss Chris Wilder.
“We are just waiting for the injury to settle down before we can get it scanned but hopefully he won’t be out for too long.
“With Ryan and Tom Newey they have both been contact injuries so there is really not a lot you can do about that.
“We’ve got a couple of options, Kelvin Langmead could come in or we could move a few players around. We could also go to three at the back which we have done on occasion this season and looked comfortable.”
