Chris Wilder on Leyton Orient v Northampton Town
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area quarter-final tie at Leyton Orient.
“It’s a disappointing result but I thought it was a promising performance,” he said.
“We’re a little bit disappointed because we felt, especially in the second half, we did enough to take the game to penalties.
“We take a lot of encouragement from the second half and I thought we looked a real threat.
“We felt we should have had a penalty for a foul on O’Toole and for their second we felt it was a clear foul on Carter.
“We’re looking a stronger group and I thought John-Joe’s reaction to our comments was first class. I thought he was really good tonight and especially in the second half he was really positive and drove the game forward.
“He can take a lot of encouragement from the game tonight and hopefully he will prove to be a big player for us.”
