All the team new ahead of Leyton Orient v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder is expecting to see a lot more from midfielder John-Joe O’Toole and believes the player himself needs to do more.

“I don’t think John-Joe has produced anything near what we expect him to,” he said.

“We’ve spoken to him, he’s not got himself up to speed and he’s not got his season going.

“As coaching staff we have to make decisions and look at why that is but I think the player has to look at himself as well.

“There is a responsibility from him and possibly from our point of view we need to get him up to speed and work him a little bit harder.

“He will play on Tuesday and he’s got to do a lot better both in games and on the training ground.

“He’s got to take a bit more responsibility and if he doesn’t then he doesn’t play and if he does then we have got a very good player on our hands.

“He’s a stand out player and I think he should be doing a lot more when he plays.

"We put him in the same category as Zander Diamond, Ryan Cresswell and Marc Richards and a few others. They are big, key players and they have to deliver. OK isn't good enough for our big, key players, and those other lads are delivering. John-Joe needs to as well.

“We’ve seen glimpses from him but we’ve not seen enough. I’ve possibly seen what the supporters have seen with him and as staff we need to take some responsibility for that and the player has to take responsibility for his performances and the way he goes about it.

“He needs to up his game and we need to make sure that we get the best out of him.

“A loan might be an option if it guarantees him games but we can’t use our first team games to get him fit. We spoke as a group a couple of weeks ago to say that we needed to work harder and he comes into that category.”
