CHRIS WILDER - 'PATIENCE IS IMPORTANT AS I AM SEEING GOOD SIGNS'

The Cobblers boss ahead of Rochdale v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder previews Tuesday night’s FA Cup first round replay at Rochdale.

“Whether its league games or cup competitions it’s a game of football and we want to win,” he said.

“We know we are up against it and Rochdale yet again will be favourites but we’re confident and there would be no point turning up if we didn’t think we had an opportunity or a chance of going through.

“The first game was a tight tie and hopefully we can make the replay a tight affair as well.

“I’m not happy with our current situation in the league but I think patience is a key word because I am seeing some good signs.

“We’ve built the team and I think it’s been common knowledge and everybody recognises that we’ve not had a settled side.

“I have to give this team the time to click and I’m certain that they will do. There has been a lot of change at this football club over the last four or five years and of course I expect us to be further up the league and have more wins on the table but we have to show a little bit of patience.

“We’re building to progress and I have total belief in the group. The players have got to be better in key areas and in key times which we’ve said all along but we will improve and we will be better.

“The spirit of the team is good and there is a togetherness around the place and I believe that there is a general optimism amongst the staff and the supporters that this team when it does click can go and win games of football comfortably in this league by doing all the good things that we want them to do.”
