WILDER LOOKING AHEAD AFTER SECURING SAFETY

3 May 2014

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder was a happy man as he reflected on the 3-1 win against Oxford, a result that secured the club’s Football League status on the final day of the season.

“I’d like to thank the players for their efforts and I've never wavered in the belief that they would keep us up,” he said.

“We always kept that belief, the unity in the club from the players to the supporters has been terrific and I’m delighted that Alan Knill and I have been able to play a part in that.

“We reacted well to falling behind early on and we showed real spirit and character to come back. We played well against ten men and we took fantastic advantage of it.

“We always thought we could turn it round and one hundred per cent we never contemplated relegation.

“This club has got a bright future now, we've got a lot of hard work to do over the summer but I’m really looking forward to taking this club on.”
