Blades to visit Sixfields for pre-season friendly

Northampton Town will welcome FA Cup semi finalists Sheffield United to Sixfields for a pre-season friendly.

"This should be a great game for us," said manager Chris Wilder.

"This will be our first game at Sixfields of pre-season and it should be an attractive one. It will be a tough game, Sheffield United had a fantastic second half of last season and got to the FA Cup semi final, they will be looking to take that momentum into the new season and it will be a good test for us.

"We are looking to build a pre-season programme that tests us in all aspects of our game, there will be matches when we have a lot of the ball and can work on our attacking play and there will be games when we will have to do a lot of defending and we can work on that side of our game.

"I think this game helps us strike that balance and should be attractive to our supporters with the FA Cup semi finalists coming to town.

“I would personally like to thank Nigel Clough for bringing his team down to Sixfields. Nigel is doing a terrific job at United and I am particularly looking forward to the game against a team I’ve always supported.”

The game will take place on Tuesday July 22nd at 745pm and the club will announce ticket details in due course.
