Chris Wilder hoping to have as many of his squad as possible in place by start of pre-season

Chris Wilder says he is looking at bringing in summer signings as soon as possible so that he can have as many of his squad in place as possible for the start of pre-season.

“We’d like to do our business as quickly as possible and we are looking at bringing in around 7 players," he said.

“We are talking to players already and we are looking at a right-back, a left-back, possibly a utility midfield player, and a wide left player, maybe a winger who can play on both sides and two forwards.

“We will look at the long-term loan market for a player or two as well, myself and Alan have been watching a lot of games over the last few months and we’ve got some young talented players in mind.

“We will look at every player that is available regardless of what club they’re at and I think We're ambitious and I think we are an attractive club to join.

“People have seen the transformation in the second half of the season and hopefully this group of players along with a few additions will be battling it out at the other end of the table next season.

“Players want to join ambitious clubs who are going forward and I think we’re in that bracket.

“We want to have a squad in and around 22 or 23 players with 18 or 19 senior players backed up by a few talented youngsters.

“If we can attract the right players then I’m sure we can be competitive and be in and around the top seven next season."
