Leon McSweeney and Brennan Dickenson both came back into the side with new loan signing, Tranmere defender Evan Horwood, named on the bench.


AFC Wimbledon took the lead on 14 minutes, George Francomb shooting the ball home from a Michael Collins cut-back.


As the Dons enjoyed a good spell of pressure it was nearly 2-0 on 20 minutes when McSweeney’s clearance came back off the crossbar before Aaron Morris saw his follow-up effort blocked.


The Cobblers were awarded a penalty on 27 minutes with Jack Midson shown a straight red card for deliberate handball. Darren Carter stepped up to score from the spot and level matters.


After a quiet start to the second half Chris Wilder made a triple change just before the hour mark, Cristian Lopez, Ian Morris and Evan Horwood coming on for Alan Connell, Brennan Dickenson and Gregor Robertson.


Sinclair saw a header go wide from a Carter corner while Matt Duke denied Collins with a smart save.


Darren Carter put the Cobblers in front with a terrific strike on 78 minutes, the midfielder scoring from 25-yards after some good work by Morris.


There was to be a late sting in the tail though with Sammy Moore scoring from close range deep into the six minutes of stoppage time.
