An update on progress as the redevelopment work continues at Sixfields
An exciting summer of building work is continuing at Sixfields as we build up to the new season.
The new floodlights are being installed, the pitch has been relaid, a new PA system has been delivered, the new dressing rooms are ready, as is the players gymnasium as part of a new central hub for the players and the appearance of Sixfields is changing rapidly.
As supporters will be able to see, there is a lot of work still to be done, and as with any building project, some parts of the work have been slightly delayed. While the construction company is working hard to finish the East Stand as soon as possible, we do not anticipate the East Stand seats being open for our first game against Mansfield Town on August 9th.
We do however expect the seats to be installed for the Shrewsbury Town game on Saturday August 23rd and will update supporters well in advance.
"It is an exciting time, but like with any building project there is some uncertainty over exact timings," said Chairman David Cardoza.
"I am sure supporters will understand that any change on this scale brings with it a short period of disruption but I am sure they will agree this is a small price to pay for the facilities we are delivering.
"More and more parts of this project are being completed each day and we are on target to have most of the work done shortly after the start of the season.
"I would like to thank supporters for their patience and to ask them to enjoy this time as the new facilities appear over the next few weeks."
Building work will continue into the autumn, with the delivery of a new hotel and a conference centre, adjoined to the West Stand.
Any supporter or season ticket holder who has a ticket or season ticket in the East Stand should contact the club on 01604 683777 to arrange to move to an alternative seat.
Wheelchair supporters will be accommodated at the front of the West and North Stands on a temporary basis until the raised East Stand area is ready.
