CHRIS WILDER ON SILEBY RANGERS V NORTHAMPTON TOWN

14 July 2014

The Cobblers boss delighted with return of Alex Nicholls and many other positives

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder was delighted with performance of his squad in the opening public pre-season friendly at Sileby on Saturday.

"Sileby were fantastic hosts and the game was played in a great spirit," he said looking back on a game that the Cobblers won 9-0, including hat-tricks for John-Joe O'Toole and the returning Alex Nicholls.

"It was a really good work out for us and there were a lot of positives from everybody. We showed good application and attitude, it was a physical game at times which is what we want and in the end our superior fitness levels told.

"We played some good football at times, we moved the ball around well, especially in the second half and we were ruthless in front of goal.

"It was important for me that we gave a good first impression to the supporters and we definitely did that.

"We will have to up our levels as the opposition becomes tougher but I'm very pleased with the start we've made."
