Football League Youth Alliance action
Northampton Town’s youth team finally returned to Football League Youth Alliance action on Saturday when they welcomed Colchester United to Moulton College.
In a close game that could have gone either way, the Cobblers, who hit the bar twice, were beaten 2-1.
“It was a bit of a nothing game,” said under 18s coach Craig Hinton.
“I felt on the balance of play we deserved a draw so I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t get anything from the game.”
Ivan Toney scored the Cobblers goal.
