Left-back Joe Widdowson is battling to be fit for the visit of Southend after picking up an ankle injury against Hartlepool on Saturday.

“Joe has had round the clock treatment since Saturday and we will give him the best possible opportunity to play,” said boss Chris Wilder.

“We didn’t want to make too many changes so if he makes it then great but if he doesn’t then Gregor Robertson is ready to go.

“Gregor played 40 odd games at left-back In League One last season and he will slot in there no problem if required.”
