Cobblers staging first in series of tournaments
Following the October launch of Northampton Town's football coaching activities in Daventry, Northampton and Wellingborough focused on improving physical and mental health, the Cobblers are delighted to announce the first in a series of football tournaments, to be held at the Redwell Leisure Centre in Wellingborough commencing on Monday 15th December at 2pm.
The first mini-tournament involves seven teams, three from Wellingborough, two from Northampton and two from Peterborough competing for the first ‘Heads Up Christmas Cup’ to unite football and well-being in Northamptonshire.
Activities are organised in association with Northamptonshire Football Association, The Bridge Programme and the Posh Foundation
Regular coaching sessions are held as follows:
Each Monday from 2.00pm - 3.30pm at Redwell Leisure Centre, Barnwell Road, Wellingborough NN8 5LP at a cost of £2 per session.
“We are delighted to support this venture. We know football can help with not only a person’s physical fitness, but also their mental wellbeing as well. This is about giving people the opportunity to relax, have fun and to come together to meet and make new friends," said Northampton Town Chairman David Cardoza.
“We hope we can make a positive impact in this area and I hope as many people as possible will come and join the club on these courses. Football can be a very powerful vehicle in breaking down barriers and we hope we can use that power to help those who require assistance.”
Northampton Town's Football in the Community scheme will be at the Redwell Centre on Mondays from 2pm to recognise a growing partnership uniting football and wellbeing in support of healthier communities.
