Ryan Cresswell, Lawson D’Ath, Zander Diamond, Evan Horwood and Lewis Hornby are all pressing for a place in Saturday’s matchday squad.
“We are delighted to have all five of them back but we’ve got to make sure that we make the right decisions with them,” said boss Chris Wilder.
“We can’t risk putting any of them back into the team before they are ready and because they have all been out for different lengths of time we have to make sure that we assess all of them properly.
“We are hopeful that Ryan and Lawson will both be back for the weekend and we will have to judge the situation with Zander, Evan and Lewis. Those three have all been out for a bit longer and in Lewis’s case around 18 months.
“Stewart Murdoch got a whack in the game at Southend but he is okay and I’m sure the physio is pleased that he’s now only got Ian Morris and Tom Newey in the treatment room.”
