Cobblers assistant boss Alan Knill previews Bury’s Boxing Day visit to Sixfields.

“A lot can change over the Christmas period and hopefully come the start of January things will start to look a bit brighter and we will be looking upwards,” he said.

“I still think the focus for us is up but of course you have to be aware of the teams below you. Attacking wise I think we are okay but we need to improve defensively.

“At the moment it is too easy for teams to score against us, that needs to stop and the players need to be stronger mentally.

“We want to change our fortunes around and hopefully Friday will be the start of that.

“Bury are a good side, like us they aren’t on the best of form at the moment but every team during a season goes through a bad spell.

“Things can change round very quickly in football, there is still a lot of work to do but we are all fully focused on doing that.”
