WILDER DEMANDING CONSISTENCY AHEAD OF YORK TRIP

15 August 2014

Chris Wilder previews York City v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder is challenging his players to maintain a level of consistency ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League 2 trip to York.

“It’s been a great first week but that will count for nothing if we don’t turn up on Saturday,” he said.

“We need to have a level of consistency and I don’t want it to be an after the Lord Mayor’s Show performance. We’ve got some tough games this month and it’s important that we tackle each game individually.

“York are a well organised side and they had a great run to get into the play-offs at the end of last season. They are a tough unit and we know that we are in for a really difficult game.

“Home form is obviously crucial and we want to make this a tough place for teams to come and visit but if you want to be successful you need to also pick up a chunk of points away from home.

“From the day I walked into the football club the backing the supporters have shown myself and the players has been first class, the support at Wolves was excellent and they witnessed a really good performance.

“It’s a new team, a new squad and it needs time to bed down but I’m delighted with the start we’ve made. Nothing is won or lost in August but we want to win football matches because winning games gives you that confidence.”
