All the news ahead of York City v Northampton Town

The Cobblers could welcome back Darren Carter (hamstring), Chris Hackett (Achilles) and Emile Sinclair (groin) into the squad for Saturday’s trip to York.

“We’re hopeful that Darren and Chris will both be involved on Saturday,” said boss Chris Wilder.

“Emile will be back as well so we’ve got three big players coming back into the group which is great.

“The players who came in on Tuesday did well and I’ve always said it’s not just about the team, it’s about the group. I expect all the players to give me a selection headache every time they put a shirt on.

“Every player in the squad needs to be ready to play and whether a player starts or comes off the bench they need to prove to me that they deserve their place in the side.

“Alex Nicholls needs games and we still want to get him out on loan. It has to be the right club but Alex needs to play 90 minutes in a run of games rather than just getting 10 minutes here and there.”
