CLEARER IMPRESSION OF NEW EAST STAND

7 August 2014

The stand has not been changed, but this a clearer, more accurate image of the new stand

Northampton Town are delighted to present supporters with a clearer impression of how the new East Stand at Sixfields will look.

The new stand is currently under construction and is due to be completed in the next few weeks. It is part of a much wider re-development programme to provide the club with facilities it has never had before in its 117 year history, including a hotel, a conference centre, executive boxes and more.

The club have commissioned Northampton based architects MatchBox to provide the drawings which we hope will give supporters a more accurate impression of the new stand and facilities. The stand has not been changed, but this a clearer, more accurate image.

"We are really excited that we are on the verge of providing the club with a whole new range of facilities," said Chairman David Cardoza.

"These facilities can be the catalyst to providing a whole raft of opportunities for the club and the local community.

"The new stand will include the corporate boxes, a Legends Lounge where we will pay tribute to the history of the club and where fans can rub shoulders with some of the former players to have played for Northampton Town, a large concourse and an indoor family fans village, which will include activities for all the family and to make each matchday a really enjoyable experience for our younger supporters.

"The frustration for me is that we have suffered a slight delay in the building of this stand. It is nothing major, around 4 to 5 weeks, but it is frustrating that it isn’t ready for the start of the season. Such delays are common, anyone who has been involved in building work will know they can happen so while that is not a shock, it is still disappointing. We are advised that the new stand will be open by the end of September and while it is annoying that there is a delay of a few weeks, this club has waited 117 years for such facilities so we will have to put up with a few weeks.

"There is no conspiracy theory to these delays, they happen and can be a part of any building project. It is frustrating but there is nothing we can do other than make the best of the situation.

"I would like to apologise to all supporters who aren't be able to sit in the East Stand for the first few games. It is annoying, but we will accommodate them elsewhere in the best way we can and when the new stand is finished by the end of next month, they will be sitting in a brand new stand with fantastic new facilities.

"We will also be making a gesture of apology to all supporters affected when the stand does open.

"Much of the work that has been completed is in the inside of the West Stand, including the home, away and match officials dressing rooms, the players gym, the physio room and the luxury suites adjacent to the West Stand should be ready by the end of August. The new floodlights are in, the new PA system is in and the building of the hotel and conference centre will begin in the autumn. We are also well on the way to providing all supporters with a brand new seat, wherever they sit in the stadium.

"We are entering in to a new era for Northampton Town Football Club so there will be a period of disruption for a while. We will work through it as best we can and we will emerge with a much more vibrant, bigger and better football club with a much brighter future.

"As we go through this period, I would like to thank supporters for their patience and wish them all a happy new season. Good luck to Chris Wilder and the boys as they carry our hopes in to the 2014/15 campaign. I am delighted with the squad Chris has put together, and I am sure we can look forward to much brighter times for this football club, on and off the pitch."

The first game the new East Stand will be open for is the Burton Albion match on October 11th.
