Diamond and Carter set to miss Brewers clash
The Cobblers will be without key duo Zander Diamond and Darren Carter for the visit of Burton Albion to Sixfields on Saturday.
On-loan defender Diamond has not been given permission to play by his parent club Burton while midfielder Carter serves the first game of his two-match ban for accumulated bookings.
“Both Zander and Darren have been excellent and they are two big players for us but we have to just get over that,” said boss Chris Wilder.
“We’ve got good enough players to come in, both Ben Tozer and Gregor Robertson have played a lot at this level and done well so they’ll both be pushing for starts.
“We’ve talked about the importance of the group not just the eleven and it will obviously be severely tested on Saturday but it’s an opportunity.
“Kelvin Langmead isn’t too far away and he’s been a big miss for us just as Lee Collins has. Kelvin has done remarkably well to get back this quickly, when I came in I thought the season was done and dusted for him but credit to Kelvin for putting the effort in and credit to the staff who have worked really hard with him.
“He’s a proper professional and he’ll do what he has to do. He played for the reserves last week and we only expected him to play half an hour but we ended up dragging him off the pitch after 70 minutes.
“Kelvin and Lee are the type of people that you want around you and whether they are playing or not their influence and personalities certainly give us a boost.”
