CHAIRMAN - 'BIG, UNIFIED EFFORT'

9 April 2014

David Cardoza wants total positivity in these final 5 games of the season

Chairman David Cardoza has called for a big, united, positive effort from everyone with Northampton Town at heart in the final 5 games of the season.

“We are still very much in the fight, it was vitally important that we won on Saturday and things would have looked very tough had we not," he said.

“We’ve got five games left and the way results went on Saturday we have dragged another four or five teams back into it.

“We are still desperate to drag ourselves out of the bottom two but as Chris Wilder has said as long as we are out of the bottom two come the final whistle of the season then that’s all that really matters.

“As a club and as players and fans we have all got to be as one for these last five games and we just need everybody to get right behind the team.

“It’s nervous times, I sit at the games and I get as frustrated the same as anybody else but I think we need to put all that to one side now and just get behind the team and help push them over the line.

“Let’s just forget our nerves now, everyone wants to see the club still in the Football League next season and we just have to stay behind the team.

“Whatever anybody says it makes such a difference when we are all behind the team, screaming our support even when a player makes a mistake.

“It helps the confidence of the players when they know the fans are right behind them even if they do make a mistake and it gives them a lift.

“I’m going to make a conscious effort to be positive for these last five games and we all have to.

“Everyone is talking about our games over Easter but to me the Burton game is more important and if we can get a win on Saturday it will put us in a much better position going in to those games."
