TRIO STILL MISSING

2 September 2013

Team news ahead of the trip to MK

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd has provided an injury update on Joe Widdowson, Ian Morris and Danny Emerton who all missed Saturday’s trip to Bristol Rovers.

“None of those three players will be involved on Tuesday night,” he said.

“Danny will be back for Saturday and Joe and Ian are both 50/50 at the moment.

“Clive Platt got through 90 minutes on Saturday and I think when you have got a player of Clive’s stature and ability it gives the other players confidence.

“He feels great and hopefully he will get a run of games now because statistically when Clive is in the team we win a lot more games.

“I’m quite happy with the targets that we’ve got, I think it’s clear that we do need another centre half but I’m quite happy everywhere else. We have a target in mind and it might take a week or two for something to happen.

“Lewis Hornby has got a growth problem with a disk in his back and we’ve just got to see how he reacts to the injection. It’s not looking good at the moment but he is doing some core strengthening work and we’ve just got to give him the best possible chance of getting fully fit.

“Dave Artell is contracted to the club and if I did need him then he would be free to play. If nothing happens with David by 11pm tonight then we will wait a week and see if we can sort something out on loan.

“He doesn’t want to be here and I’d certainly rather he moved on so we can free up some money, that’s just business and there are no hard feelings.”
