Congratulations to the group
It’s been a long journey, almost five years in fact, for six young people with a disability to successfully complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold award in conjunction with the Northampton Town Football in the Community scheme. Last month they went to St. James Palace to receive their awards from the Earl of Wessex.
The young people have been on expeditions around the country, walked many miles, helped raise money for shelters to help families through difficult times and encouraged each other and this was all carried out in a determined and positive way.
The young people have become excellent at reading maps, putting up tents, cooking and looking after themselves on their long expeditions, so take a bow Adam Moreton, Ben de Boo, Chris McDonald, Jake Shepperd, Jack White and Suzi Kenlin.
A special word must be given to Margaret Hillier who has been a magnificent in encouraging and making the young people believe in themselves.
