The Cobblers took the lead on 19 minutes, Lee Collins with his first goal for the club after getting on the end of a superbly delivered free-kick from Darren Carter to prod home.

Ian Morris then nearly added a second, heading just over from a Chris Hackett cross. Town then had a goal ruled out for off-side after a good initial save from Ross Worner to keep out a powerful strike from Gary Deegan.

AFC Wimbledon made a double change at half-time with one of those changes seeing the introduction of former Cobblers winger Chris Arthur.

Carter lashed a shot just wide from distance on 52 minutes before Hackett went off, Stuart Dallas coming on for his Town debut.

After a short spell of pressure from the home side Dallas delivered a terrific cross for Morris to get on the end of but the midfielder's header went wide.

Stuart Dallas then doubled the Cobblers lead on 73 minutes, the on-loan Brentford winger with a calm cool finish to beat Worner in the Dons goal after being played in by O'Donovan.

Ivan Toney came on for Roy O'Donovan in the Cobblers second change seconds before Matt Duke made a good save to keep out an effort from George Porter.

Duke made another good stop to deny Harry Pell in injury time as the Cobblers claimed their first three-point haul on the road this season.
