KASH BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS

10 October 2013

Kashif Siddiqi on his award nomination and his community work

Kashif Siddiqi is a busy man.

Not only is he settling in at Northampton Town, but earlier this week he attended the Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium, where he was shortlisted for the Inspiration award.

Kash is working hard to help break down barriers for Asians in football and is also working on a number of community projects for Northampton Town.

“The Asian Football Awards is a great initiative and just to be shortlisted for an award was a massive honour," he said in an interview for the club's official YouTube channel.

“Since starting my charity, the KSF Foundation I’m getting approached by kids and parents and it’s a great opportunity to be a role model and help break the barriers that I had to come through.

“We’ve launched a project in West London, Faith in Sport, and it’s a great opportunity now to bring that to the South Asian community in Northampton.

“There are so many South Asian people all across the country but unfortunately you never see them coming to games and I want to go out to the community to say that Northampton is a family club and we are welcoming everyone.

“I want to bridge the gap and I want to get more people coming to the club.”
