AMANKWAAH OUT FOR A MONTH

24 October 2013

Defender latest to be hit by injury

Kevin Amankwaah has been ruled out for a month minimum after picking up a hamstring injury in the game at Rochdale as the Cobblers prepare to welcome Cheltenham Town to Sixfields, a game the Cobblers are 11/8 to win.

“Kevin is going to be out for a month minimum,” confirmed boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“It’s quite a bad strain but luckily for us we’ve got good cover in Lee Collins and Ben Tozer.

“Hopefully we can nurse Kevin back to fitness and it’s a shame really because I thought along with Paul Reid they were becoming a good right-hand side pairing.

“I’d like to have made a new signing by Saturday and I’m currently in communication with the club concerned.

“Luke Norris was outstanding on Tuesday night and his goal was one of the best I’ve ever seen live but I just think he needs a bit of help up there.

“JJ Hooper is not in the squad at the moment and maybe like David Moyo, Claudio Dias and Dean Snedker have all done he needs to go out on loan to get some football.

“To get on the bench is a privilege that has to be earned and sometimes players do need to go out on loan to then come back to get in my thoughts.”
