AIDY - 'WIN WAS DUE'

5 October 2013

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was pleased with the 2-0 win at AFC Wimbledon but said that this result has to be built upon.

"I think this win was due," he said.

"We set up to not get beat but we knew we had enough in the team to come here and get something.

"We stuck at it, we were very solid and the only disappointing thing for me is that with the opportunities we had we could have scored more goals.

"To keep two clean sheets in a row is a massive plus and it was very important we got something from the game today.

"We probably would have settled for a point before the game but we're delighted to get all three.

"Everybody was very good today and I think the team is just starting to click.

"We were wearing Wimbledon down and I thought we looked very good on the counter attack.

"We know that one swallow doesn't make a summer but I'm genuinely happy for our supporters today that we got the win."
