AIDY - 'WE DIDN'T PLAY WELL'

26 October 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd reflecting on the 1-1 draw against Cheltenham.

“We didn’t play very well today,” admitted the Cobblers boss.

“I thought the game at Rochdale took a lot out of us physically and emotionally and we looked a little tired.

"I don't think we deserved to win it but I certainly don't think we deserved to lose it either.

"Matt Duke kept us in it at times in the second half but having said that if our final ball had been a little bit better we could have won it.

"I just felt today that we lacked the energy that we normally have, we tried to win the game in the second half but at this moment in time we are where we are and we dug out a result.

"I think we are digging out points here and there at the minute and after what happened on Tuesday it was very important that we didn't get beat today.

"We snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory up at Rochdale and today we managed to get back in the game having not played that well.

"There is work to do but we are slowly but surely getting there and a point today is another point on the board.

"Clearly we are not where we want to be but we are taking small steps in the right direction.

"I thought Luke Norris did well again today and he took his goal well. Everybody can see that he needs help up there but I don't want to bring in the wrong player I want to bring in the right one.

"The player we want is available we just need to agree the right deal for both clubs.

"Roy O'Donovan has got an operation on Tuesday and he is going to be out for another month."
