Cobblers youngsters out of FA Youth Cup
Northampton Town's youth team were beaten 7-4 by Ilkeston in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday night in an astonishing game.
Connor Roberts curled home a free kick to open the scoring on 18 minutes, before Callum Powell made it 2-0. The home side pulled a goal back only for Ivan Toney to make it 3-1 on the stroke of half time.
Toney was then sent off for two yellow cards in the second half and Ilkeston pulled a goal back and then equalised late on. Dodzi Agbenu put Craig Hinton's ten men back ahead in second half stoppage time before Ilkeston equalised again, still in added time, to send the tie to extra time.
The home side’s man advantage told and they scored three times in extra time to go through to the second round.
Cobblers: Heath, Harmon, Warburton, Reeve, Jackson, Roberts (c), Powell, Clifton, Fitzgerald, Toney, Maki.
