Ben Tozer replaced the suspended Lee Collins at right-back for the visit of Sky Bet League Two leaders Fleetwood Town.

After a bright start from the Cobblers it was Fleetwood who went close to opening the scoring on 7 minutes, David Ball firing a shot against the crossbar.

With the Cobblers continuing to press a good challenge from Ricky Ravenhill set up a shooting opportunity for Jacob Blyth but his effort was comfortably saved by Scott Davies.

Fleetwood were forced into making a change just after the half hour mark with Jon Parkin replacing David Ball.

Luke Norris headed over from a Chris Hackett cross in first half stoppage time following the Cobblers 8th corner of the first half.

Stuart Dallas came on for Chris Hackett at half-time in the Cobblers first change. Fleetwood substitute Matty Blair shot straight at Matt Duke on 59 minutes while for the Cobblers Norris saw a low shot saved by Davies.

Danny Emerton made way for Ishmel Demontagnac on 65 minutes with the game still delicately poised.

Jeff Hughes spurned two good opportunities for Fleetwood as the visitors looked to up the momentum. Norris and Dallas then both saw shots blocked as the Cobblers enjoyed a spell of pressure of their own.

Luke Norris gave the Cobblers the lead in the 90th minute, the on-loan Brentford striker scoring with a superbly taken free-kick from the edge of the area. That proved to be the game’s defining moment as the Cobblers claimed the three points.
