IZALE MAKES LOAN MOVE

28 November 2013

Striker arrives at Sixfields

Northampton Town have signed Milton Keynes Dons striker Izale McLeod on loan until 4 January.

The 29-year old re-joined the Dons in January this year after spending the first half of last season with Portsmouth where he scored 11 goals in 27 appearances.

McLeod began his career at Derby County in 2002 before joining the Dons for the first time in the summer of 2004. During his first spell in Milton Keynes, McLeod scored 60 goals in 135 appearances and was named the League 2 Player of the Year in 2007.

A big-money move to Charlton Athletic followed for the former England under-21 international and during his three-year stay at The Valley he spent time on loan at Colchester United and Millwall.

He then joined Barnet in November 2010 and in 83 appearances for the Bees he scored 36 goals.

“I’m delighted to bring in a proven goalscorer in Izale McLeod,” said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“He has always done well against my sides in the past, he will add another dimension to our attack and pose a real threat to our opposition.

“I’m really excited about working with him and I’m sure he will be a great addition to our squad.”
