FANS URGED TO ATTEND PLANNING MEETING

26 November 2013

Supporters not off to Chesterfield can attend the planning meeting on Tuesday

Supporters not travelling to Chesterfield on Tuesday night are encouraged to attend the Northampton Guildhall at 6pm to see the planning application for the Sixfields redevelopment discussed and decided.

Councillors will debate the planning application which would see Sixfields Stadium’s capacity increased to around 10,000. The plans include new corporate boxes and a conference centre.

The expansion of the stadium marks the first stage of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the area which would support growth in the Enterprise Zone and bring forward more revenue streams for the Football Club. Additional planning applications are expected later this year for housing and local retail facilities, with plans for a hotel also to be submitted in the next few months.

The redevelopment of Sixfields Stadium and the surrounding area is part of a £12 million loan deal put together by Northampton Borough Council and Northampton Town Football Club.

Chairman David Cardoza and Supporters Representative on the Board, Andy Clarke, will attend the meeting and the club are keen for supporters not heading to cheer the first team on at Chesterfield on Tuesday to attend the meeting and show their support.

The planning application is available on Northampton Borough Council’s website at www.northampton.gov.uk/planning.
