AIDY PRAISES DEFENSIVE STRENGTH

26 November 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was satisfied as he reflected on the goalless draw at Chesterfield.

"It's a good point," he said.

"We were very good defensively and it was a good disciplined strong performance.

"Chesterfield are a good team but we stopped them tonight and we gave them a few problems as well.

"A couple of times we got in to really good positions but we just didn't quite have that final incisive ball.

"We had a game plan, we set up to be strong and we carried it out to the letter.

"Matt Duke didn't have much to do and I think that is a credit to the rest of the team.

"I was disappointed on Saturday because I thought we shot ourselves in the foot and the longer you are in a game the better chance you have got of winning it.

"We almost controlled the game tonight without having the ball and it was almost the perfect away performance.

"We wanted to win but it's another point on the board and if we can add to it with three points against Accrington it will have been a good week."
