AIDY DELIGHTED WITH HOME DISPLAY

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was pleased with the performance of his team in the 1-0 win over league leaders Fleetwood Town.

“I thought we played very well and I’m delighted for our supporters,” he said.

“Fleetwood are a very good team and they are top of the league for a reason but from start to finish our work ethic and willingness to get ourselves out of the position we are in was excellent.

“We pressed for the whole game and as I’ve just said to the players we’ve just beaten the team that is top of the league so there are no excuses now.

“We were strong and solid, we had to weather a storm in the second half but we kept very positive.

“It is fine margins but generally if you keep at it and keep going you will win more games than you lose.

“Luke Norris is a good player, he’s got a lot to do but he’s got the raw materials. He wants to learn, he’s a terrific young man and he’s a very good finisher.

“Ricky Ravenhill was outstanding, he is exactly what we need and he gets the job done.

“Chris Hackett felt his groin in the first five minutes and I just thought it would be best to take him off at half-time to make sure he is okay for next week.

“I’m going to celebrate this win tonight, we are on the up and I can’t wait for the Hartlepool game now.

“We’ve got a confidence about us now and we’ve just got to keep building on it.

“We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves but there are 30 games left and what we’ve got to do is put a little run together.”
