AIDY - 'WE GOT WHAT WE DESERVED'

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd said his side got what they deserved from Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Hartlepool.

"I didn't think we deserved anything out of the game today," he said.

"I thought we gave ourselves a lot to do, we started well and we gave it a go in the second half but it wasn't enough and I think we got what we deserved today.

"We looked a very good team last week but it's about consistency and coming to places like Hartlepool and digging out results.

"Both at home and away it's important we put points on the board and whether we are at home or away it's important we perform to the best of our abilities and we had too many players not at the level that they were a week ago.

"Hartlepool gave us problems, they played a similar system to Fleetwood who the league table says are a better team but today we were found wanting.

"We are very disappointed because today we weren't at our best and we need to rectify that for Tuesday. We prepared well but we just didn't respond to the weapons Hartlepool have got.

"We've taken a massive couple of steps forward in the last few weeks and we need to get back to that on Tuesday.

"Chris Hackett is a big player for us but he wasn't one hundred per cent so I decided to rest him and hopefully he will be okay for Tuesday.

"We have proved that we can beat the best team in the division but today we didn't do what we did so well as a team last week.

"It is disappointing but we are moving in the right direction and we've got an opportunity to put things right at Chesterfield."
