AIDY - 'WE ARE A CLUB ON THE UP'

18 May 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Aidy Boothroyd was left to reflect on the play-off final defeat to Bradford City.

“We are obviously all very disappointed but it has been a terrific season and we are a club on the up,” he said.

“Bradford dealt with the whole day better than we did and for 30 minutes we just didn’t perform and that is the most disappointing thing for me and for the players.

“Bradford did well today and they got what they deserved.

“They were at it from the start, we knew what they were going to do and we prepared for it but we didn’t deal with it.

“They were poor goals to concede and errors from individuals and to be on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline is not a good place to be.

“We didn’t take our chances when they came along and we lacked an edge up front that we have had all season.

“We can all be pleased with what we’ve done this season, I know that might sound hollow to some people at this moment in time but we are a football club on the up and we have to try and make sure this time next year that we are promoted.

“Life is about getting knocked down and responding to set backs, we thank the fans for their support and we will bounce back.

“It was not a nice feeling seeing Bradford lift the trophy but if you can’t take defeat like a man then you certainly can’t expect to win like a man.”
